About EcuInside

A free tool that tells you what a factory ECU file is, shows you what’s inside it, and never changes it.

Why it exists

People end up with a file read from an engine computer and no easy way to know what it is: which ECU it came from, which software it carries, whether it’s a whole read. Tuning software can tell you, if you own it. EcuInside does it in the browser, for free, without an account.

What it does and doesn’t do

It reads the identification written in the file, checks the file’s size against the size of a whole read, finds the tables by their shape, and compares two reads. It doesn’t edit files, correct checksums, offer modifications or hand out files of any kind. Table names appear only where a tuner has checked them on the same software.

How it works

Recognition is built on OpenRemap (MIT licence) by v-arapidis, plus our own scanner that looks for the number shapes ECU files carry. Every result shows the bytes it came from. See the families we recognise.

Not connected to any maker

EcuInside is not connected to Bosch, Continental, Siemens, Delphi, Magneti Marelli, Denso, Hitachi, Volkswagen or any other maker. Their names and numbers appear only to say which ECU a file came from.
